WALK THROUGH CROATIAN HISTORY

The archaeological site of Salona is one of the richest Roman sites in Croatia. In the ancient times, it was the capital city of the Roman province Dalmatia, situated on the crossroads of sea and land routes of the ancient Mediterranean. On this sight you can feel the Roman and early Christian spirit that takes you back in the past: Basilica Urbana, its baptistery, Theatre, Forum and the old Christian cemetery, Manastirine, one of the three Roman amphitheatres on the east Adriatic coast. fter sightseeing of Salona we proceed to medievil fortress of Klis and the tour finishes on Gospin Otok-lovely meadow next to river Jadro, on which stands the Church of Our Lady of the Island, where Pope John Paul II visited Solin On 4 October 1998.
